igovt is a government service that lets you use the same username and password to access many government online services. This saves you having to remember multiple logon details for different services.

Where can I get an igovt logon from?
The igovt logon service can be used to access participating government service provider's services. To register for a service by a participating service provider you need to go to their website.
I forgot my igovt username?
There are two ways you can recover your username:
Online
At the igovt logon screen click on “Forgot your username?”. This will direct you to a page where you must enter your email address, then an email will be sent to you that includes your igovt username.
Call Centre
If you have forgotten your username, you can contact the igovt Helpdesk on the following numbers.

I forgot my igovt password?
There are two ways you can recover your password:
Online
At the igovt logon screen click on “Forgot your password?”. This will direct you to a page where you must enter your username and email address. After you correctly answer your reminder questions, an email will be sent to you that includes your igovt password.

How long is my personal verification code valid for?
Your personal verification code will never expire, so there is no time limit on how long you take to activate your igovt logon with the Electoral Enrolment Centre.
I am on the Unpublished roll, can I sign up to updating my enrolment details electronically?
Due to the sensitive nature of Unpublished Roll electors’ personal details, no online access is offered to these electors.
What do you do with information provided for updating my enrolment details electronically?
Personal information will only be used for electoral purposes and electoral-related communications with electors.
I am 17 years old, can I consent to updating my enrolment details electronically?
Yes. You can consent to updating your enrolment details electronically and you will be able to activate your igovt logon. You will receive confirmation that you are on the Electoral Roll when you turn 18.
How can I opt out of updating my enrolment details electronically/igovt?
If you have previously opted to update your details electronically, you must contact your Registrar of Electors in writing and state you would like to opt out of updating my enrolment details electronically or provide a new enrolment form and tick ‘No’ to the question about giving consent to updating your enrolment details electronically.
What if I receive an email regarding signing up for updating my enrolment details electronically, when I have not consented for updating my enrolment details electronically?
If you receive an email from your Registrar of Elector regarding updating your enrolment details electronically and you have not consented to this on your enrolment form, please forward this email to the Electoral Enrolment Centre for investigation at registrations@elections.org.nz. You will be given an explanation once the matter has been investigated.
Can I vote using my igovt logon?
No, you cannot vote using your igovt logon. You must physically visit a polling booth to vote.
Can I search for my details online?
Yes, you can search for your details online, however if you would like to update your details electronically you need to log on using your igovt logon.
Can I update my partner’s/families’ details as well?
No, you can only update your own details, if you have provided consent to update your enrolment details electronically.
Will my update be applied immediately?
No, your details will not be updated immediately. Your Registrar of Electors will check your changes before accepting them. You will receive confirmation when your enrolment details have been updated.
What do I do if I change my email?
You will need to log on with your igovt logon and update your email address.
Do I have to provide an email address if I consent to updating my enrolment details electronically?
Yes, if you do not provide an email address on your enrolment form, but consent to updating your enrolment details electronically, you will not be able to complete the registration process.
