2011 General Election

The 2011 New Zealand General Election was held on Saturday 26 November 2011. A Referendum on the Voting System was conducted at the same time.

121 Members of Parliament (MPs), were elected - 70 from electorates and 51 from party lists. 3,070,847 people were enrolled to vote in 2011, with over 2.2 million votes cast and a turnout of 74.21% of enrolled voters. 453 electorate candidates were nominated.  13 parties with 471 list candidates contested the party vote.
