General Description
The Banks Peninsula electorate comprises Banks Peninsula and Lyttelton Harbour, and includes the Christchurch suburbs of Sydenham, Beckenham, Cashmere, Woolston, Bromley, Ferrymead, Redcliffs and Sumner.
Summary of Reasons
The Banks Peninsula electorate has lost the suburbs of Halswell, Oaklands and Westmoreland to the new electorate of Selwyn. It has also lost a portion of Hoon Hay to Wigram. This has required an expansion to the north to meet quota requirements. The commission has achieved this expansion by movement into Christchurch Central and Christchurch East electorates.
