General Description

The Clutha-Southland electorate comprises the Southland, Gore and Clutha Districts (but excludes Invercargill City and Bluff), and parts of the Queenstown-Lakes and Central Otago Districts. It includes the communities of Milton, Lawrence, Balclutha, Roxburgh, Arrowtown, Queenstown and Te Anau.

Summary of Reasons

The existing Clutha-Southland electorate is 12% under the permitted quota. The expansion of the Invercargill and Dunedin South electorates into this electorate requires an additional population of approximately 13,000 people to raise it to quota. The Commission has achieved this by moving the entire Queenstown / Arrowtown area and the Roxburgh area into the Clutha-Southland electorate.
