General Description

The Hunua electorate comprises a large area south and east of Auckland. It extends in the west from the Manukau Heads to the mouth of the Waikato River, and in the east from Beachlands along the coast to the Firth of Thames at Matingarahi Point. It includes the communities of Pukekohe, Clevedon, Drury, Waiuku and Clarks Beach.

Summary of Reasons

This electorate is effectively a new electorate whose boundaries run from Maraetai in the north east, skirting Papakura and then west to include Pukekohe, Waiuku and then up to the Manukau Heads. The southern boundary is the Waikato River and Bombay Hills. The Commission proposes Hunua as the name for this electorate.
