General Description
The Mana electorate is based on the communities of Porirua City, Plimmerton and Pukerua Bay, and the Kapiti Coast settlements of Paekakariki and Raumati.
Summary of Reasons
The existing Mana electorate population is just above the minimum tolerance (at -4%) and projected to decrease below quota tolerance. The Otaki electorate (to the north) is slightly over quota (+3%). The existing boundary between these two electorates currently splits Raumati (in Mana) from Paraparaumu. To bring Mana back closer to quota (including projections through to 2011) part of Paraparaumu has been transferred from Otaki to Mana. The Commission chose to transfer the area of Paraparaumu to the east of the highway and railway line because that is considered to be a significant dividing line.
