General Description
The Northland electorate is based on the communities of the Far North (including the Bay of Islands) and the west coast of Northland down to the mouth of Kaipara Harbour. On the east it extends as far south as Whananaki, before turning inland to include the communities of Maungaturoto and Mangawhai Heads. Its southern boundary extends from near Cape Rodney across to the mouth of Kaipara Harbour.
Summary of Reasons
The Northland electorate is 3% under quota and the population is projected to decline relative to quota. Northland has been extended to encompass Wellsford and associated rural areas from the Rodney electorate.
