General Description
The Piako electorate comprises the coastal section from Port Waikato in the north to Raglan Harbour in the south, extending inland and across to Matingarahi on the Firth of Thames in the northeast, and southeast as far as Matamata. It includes the communities of Tuakau, Huntly, Ngaruawahia and Morrinsville.
Summary of Reasons
The existing Piako electorate is impacted by population losses to Coromandel and Taupo and gains from Hamilton East. The northern boundary has been moved up to the Bombay Hills and the Waikato River mouth. The resultant electorate is 2.3% above quota and steadily declining relative to quota.
