General Description
The Rangitikei electorate comprises the communities of Taumarunui, Owhango and National Park in the north, Ohakune, Waiouru and Taihape in the centre, and Marton, Bulls and Feilding in the south, and the Rangitikei catchment.
Summary of Reasons
The existing Rangitikei electorate is below tolerance at -8%, has declining population relative to quota and it loses approximately 4500 people to Palmerston North. The required additional population has to come from Taupo as topography in the east and west constrain any other movement. As a result the north western boundary moves to include Taumarunui and the surrounding district.
