General Description
The Rotorua electorate is based on the communities of Rotorua and Murupara. This electorate comprises all of the Rotorua District, the southwestern part of the Whakatane District, northwest toward the Kaimai Range, and also includes Kawerau.
Summary of Reasons
The existing Rotorua electorate is outside tolerance at -7% and has a declining population relative to quota. The Commission has maintained the boundaries in the south, east, and west and has obtained the required additional population by extending northwards to State Highway 28 and then east to State Highway 33.
