General Description
The Waitakere electorate is the predominately rural area west of Auckland and comprises the communities of Glen Eden, Ranui, Henderson and Waiatarua, and the coastal settlements of Piha, Karekare and Te Henga (Bethells Beach).
Summary of Reasons
The Waitakere electorate is currently 3% over quota and projected to grow steadily relative to quota. Waitakere has been extended eastwards to include Sunnyvale and north to Muriwai. To compensate, urban areas in the south east (Glen Eden South, Konini and North Titirangi) have been moved into New Lynn.
