Making an Annual Return of Party Donations and Loans

The Electoral Commission provides secretaries of registered political parties an annual return for completion by 30 April each year. It must be accompanied by an auditor's report as to whether the return fairly reflects the party donations and loans received. Party secretaries are expected to schedule the work and audit so that the deadline is met.

Before making a return party secretaries should read Part 3 of the Party Secretary Handbook, consult the Electoral Act 1993, and seek independent legal advice as required.
