The Electoral Commission has prepared this information to explain your rights and obligations as the secretary of a registered political party for a general election.
Rules are in force for political party election advertising, expenditure, donations and loans. Please study these requirements carefully. There are serious consequences for non-compliance including prosecution for corrupt or illegal practices.
This information is a general guide and reflects the Electoral Commission’s interpretation of the law and how it intends to apply the law. The Electoral Commission welcomes the opportunity to discuss any areas that require clarification.
