Appendix D: allocation of advertising expenses for advertisements promoted by candidates
Assumes: the cost of each advertisement is $1,000; the party secretary has authorised any positive party advertisement; and advertisements that promote more than one message are in equal proportions.

The Electoral Commission advises that if a candidate promotes a referendum advertisement you should assume the advertisement will also be deemed to be a candidate advertisement. The candidate will need to include the cost of the advertisement as an election expense.
