Introduction
This booklet is part of a series produced by the Electoral Commission.
The booklets are a general guide and reflect the Electoral Commission’s interpretation of the law and how it intends to apply the law. The Electoral Commission welcomes the opportunity to discuss any areas that require clarification.
The booklets do not cover every aspect of electoral law and procedure. For further information, you should consult the Electoral Act 1993, the Electoral Regulations 1996 and the Electoral Referendum Act 2010. We encourage third party promoters to take their own legal advice. The Electoral Commission is also happy to discuss any specific questions that you have.
